Samsung Galaxy S4 Touchscreen Stops Working & Other Related Issues

The arrival of smartphones in the market introduced a new way of interacting with the mobile phone. Instead of using the keypad, the device owner now uses the phone screen. The #Samsung Galaxy #S4 for example uses its 5 inch display both as an input ( when you touch the screen) and output (when you view the display) component. Sometimes though, things don’t work the way they are supposed to when you try to touch the screen. This is what we will tackle today as we aim to resolve the Galaxy S4 touchscreen stops working issue & other related issues.

Problem: I was scrolling on facebook and out of nowhere the touchscreen stops working. I tried restarting the phone several times, no help. It doesn’t even recognize my touch at all. The power button, menu button, home button, and previous button all work, but the touch screen does not. I tried a factory reboot and reset. Now i’m stuck on the language settings on the screen because my touch still does not work. Any help would be appreciated.
Solution: Try to check if you can start the phone in recovery mode. This is a separate environment from the main operating system of your phone and is useful to check if the problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software. From here I suggest you do a factory reset. Ake note that your phone data will be deleted in the process so make sure to have a backup copy before doing this.
If after the reset the touchscreen still does not work then this problem could already be caused by a defective digitizer. This is the part of the phone that will recognize the touch input. If this is the case then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Problem: Dropped my S4 out of my chair. Immediately the screen got a black cloud over the entire screen. Made it hard to see anything on it. So I ordered a new Digitizer & screen. But was hoping would still be able to continue use of it till it got here.  Today screen won’t come on. But phone is coming on.  Fresh battery.  Soft reset a few times, holding the power button for a few mins at a time. Even started it in safe mode. still nothing.   Is there a”Jimmy Fix” I can do till Digitizer arrives on Friday?
Solution: Unfortunately in this case it would be difficult to reverse the effects of the drop unless the display assembly were replaced. You could try to check if there is a software solution to this issue by starting the phone in recovery mode. If you are able to see the screen in this mode, which is a long shot, then you should wipe the cache partition of your phone. If the issue remains then the best thing to do is to wait for the replacement display.

Problem: I was using my phone, it was on, and it suddenly switched off. then I powered it on again and The screen had green patches. I have taken the battery out and put it back in but wont work. Now the screen stays black and it is unresponsive. what should I do. AND ABOUT THE ‘CARRIER’ PART I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO CHOOSE SO I SELECTED AT&t
Solution: Try taking out the battery then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges the phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then check if the phone will turn on. If it doesn’t turn on then connect the phone to its wall charger first for at least 20 minutes then check again if you can turn on the phone.
If it the screen is still unresponsive and black then try to access the recovery mode of your phone. From here I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so only proceed if you have a backup copy.
If the problem still occurs even in recovery mode then you should try using another battery on your phone to eliminate any battery related issues that could be causing this problem.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it  checked.

Problem: Screen was unresponsive. Followed steps as per your suggestion. Now whole phone is locked. It says ‘Downloading, do not turn off target’ with this green robot-android pic. But doesn’t do a thing. What now?
Solution: This appears to be a problem with the phone software. If the phone is stuck in the downloading screen then take out its battery. When you reinsert the battery try to start the phone in Safe Mode. If you are able to start the device in this mode then backup your phone data. After you have made a backup of your data restart the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset.

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy s4, Was Sitting On Top Of The Refrigerator, & Somebody Opened It, & It Fell. Now The Screen Is Cracked From The Inside & It Won’t Light Up Anymore, Just The Buttons. The Light Blinks. The Phone Is Very Un Active. I Can’t Answer Any Phone Calls or Anything. The Screen Is Completely Blank, But I Still Get Notifications. I’m Almost Certain, It’s The LCD Digitizer That Is Damaged
Solution: If the phone screen has cracked but you are still getting notifications then there’s a possibility that the display is damaged. You will need to bring this to an authorized service center and have it checked and replaced.

Problem: I have a samsung galaxy s4 gt-i9505 the glass was cracked and after I sent it for repair they changed the glass but after a week the screen turned black I can hear the phone working when I touch the screen but it doesn’t displays anything on the screen I took it back to the repair shop and they say they have tried everything and cannot fix it and they don’t know what is the issue….can you please help Thank you very much
Solution: Try to check if you can access the recovery mode of your phone. If you are able to access this mode then the issue could be software related. I suggest you do a factory reset from here. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in the process so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding.
If you are unable to access the recovery mode then there’s a possibility that the problem is caused by the phone hardware. It could be caused by a faulty display, loose connection between the display and the board, or the board of the phone itself could be faulty. If this is the case you will have to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Problem: When I pull down the alerts the screen will go black as I’m trying to read them. Just now it did it when I hit the home button to back out of the alerts. I had some success with restarting the phone, although of course that cleared the alerts I was trying to read, but even that has stopped working.
Solution: If the problem gets temporarily fixed after a restart then there’s a possibility that this could be a software related problem. What you need to do first is to backup your phone data. Once the backup is done you need to start your phone in recovery mode. In this mode perform a wipe cache partition first. Restart your phone then check if the problem still occurs. If it does then go back to recovery mode then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done restart your phone.
